The first month of the first year is officially over now. It’s been an odd month to be honest. I admit that I spent most of the month trying to adjust to the fact that it’s 2018. It’s safe to say that 80% of this month was spent with me writing dates and fixing the 2017 into 2018, and don’t say you haven’t been doing the same thing… I’m slowly getting used to it though.
With every new year most people sets goals and resolutions. I personally refrain from setting resolutions. The term ‘resolution’ itself overwhelms me, ‘goals’ sound much more low key and holds less pressure. Anywho let’s get onto the things that made my January faves and commence my ‘this, these and that’ series.
High rise buns and bandanas have been my go to hairstyle for this month. Your hair can literally be as messy as it can possibly be, but the bandana will hold your fly-aways down. The beauty of this style is that it works with both curly hair and straight hair. Thus this style definitely made it to my faves list this month. Oh, and one plus of this high rise bun style is that it can give you a little more height haha so for anyone wanting to give an illusion of being a lil’ taller, this style is for you! And last but not least, this style also allows you to add a dash of sophistication to your look. If anyone wants a tutorial on this look, do say so in the comments section and I’ll gladly do a step by step post on it.
These two music albums have been my jam this month. BTS’ Youth: Limited and You Never Walk AloneI used to be really into Kpop( Korean pop). The direction in which Kpop was headed in just wasn’t my taste, and I had stopped listening to it all in all for a while. But recently thanks to someone, I’ve gotten back into it. You can definitely expect more posts which will feature more detailed Kpop updates here soon. These two albums have been on replay and they didn’t fail to remind me how much I had actually missed listening to Kpop.
That one activity I have been digging this month is baking.Baking is one ‘goal’ of mine to pursue this year. All these years I’ve been assisting in others in baking, yet I’ve never actually had a solo baking session.I started off with banana bread. I’m en route to discovering how to bake ‘perfect banana bread’. I know you’re thinking there’s no such thing as ‘perfect banana bread’, but I beg to differ. Let me get it out there that bananas are one of the best fruits out there. Who am I kidding?! Nothing compares to them. But next to bananas, banana bread has to the next best invention. A long time close friend of mine introduced me to it years back and it’s managed to make it to the top of my favourite desserts list. No banana bread out there beats hers, hence why I labelled it as the ‘perfect banana bread’ and why I used that as my motivation to start baking myself. It’s going to be a phase of trial and error, possibly with more errors than I prefer but hey, it shall be fun! I’ll be sure to update you guys once I successfully bake this of course.
How’d your first month of 2018 go? Have you set any ‘goals’ or ‘resolutions’ and if so have you started working on any of them yet? Do share your thoughts in the comments, I’d love to hear them.
Stay tuned for more Mikaesque posts~
